Vacation home with 3 apartments and large communal area

The beach house extends over an almost triangular plot. The protagonists: the small Alb river, which flows directly along the longest side of the property, and the beautiful landscape to the south, where the Black Forest almost reaches the property down the slope. The view alone is the best prerequisite for a “pure vacation”!

All apartments open to the south and bring plenty of light, air and sunshine inside. The garden area extends to the banks of the Alb and provides direct access to the water and the adjacent forest. The Black Forest beach – water fun, forest idyll.

The L-shape of the complex shifts its actual “focal point” outdoors, onto the terrace and the Albstrand, and creates sufficient privacy, as each residential unit has its own outdoor area that is barely visible from the neighbors.

Structural features

Sebastian Graubner began his career as a builder at a young age as a wooden boat builder on the coast. You don’t get very far building boats in the Black Forest, but the love of wood and water has remained. Lucie and Sebastian have already had the best experiences with solid wood as a building material in the Bahnwärterhaus and also in the family hotel Weimar, the brother’s house. Guests are delighted by the warm, pleasant feeling of space and so the “Schwarzwaldstrand” house was also built in solid wood in 2017.
“Timeless and homely” were the clients’ requirements for the architecture, for which they enlisted the renowned architectural firm LRO Lederer Ragnarsdóttir Oei .
